Delray’s 1st Annual Bacon and Bourbon Fest this Weekend!
Revised from Palm Beach Post by Leslie Gray Streeter March 24, 2015
Are there any classic consumables having a better moment right now than bacon or bourbon? Thanks to hipsters and a renewed appreciation for cool, older things, bacon and bourbon are inspiring chefs and diners to think of them in a new light, with new ways of eating and drinking them. And now, they’ve paired up for their own festival – the Delray Beach Bacon and Bourbon Festival.
The weekend features B&B separartely and together in fanciful creations like Cherry bourbon sticky buns, bacon and bourbon mac and cheese, bacon ice cream, bourbon and bacon chili and more. If you’d rather drink your bourbon rather than eat it, there are tastings of both that quintessentially American creation and its cousin, whiskey, as well as seminars.
Tickets start at $25 for just the festival, and go up to $150 for the Bacon and Bourbon Dining Experience. They’re available online until the end of today, then at the door on Saturday and Sunday. For tickets and more information, go to delraybaconfest.com. And come hungry and thirsty.
