3 Key Questions to Ask a Prospective Agent

How quickly will she get back to buyer leads, and how will she determine whether or not the lead is qualified? This information is crucial before making a commitment.

2. What were your recent sales in the area?

This question serves two purposes. One, to help you understand what other homes in your area are selling for, and two, to gage the knowledge that agent has about the local market. You should also inquire about how long homes were on the market and what they sold for in comparison to the list price. This will give you a good reference for the expected timing and list price strategy for your own home’s listing. The agent should be prepared with a thorough analysis of your neighborhood’s active, under contract and sold listings during the prior six months.

3. Are there enhancements that would help my home sell for more?

A good agent will conduct an analysis of your home to determine the listing price from the get-go, and will offer important suggestions. You’ll benefit from knowing what repairs or minor renovations will be necessary early on, as well as which features might be taking away from your home’s value.
